A handlebar comparison tool I built alone that reached 1.85M views
I wanted more comfortable handlebars for my bike and couldn't tell which ones would suit me. So I photographed the bars I was considering, scaled them to the manufacturers' specs in Photoshop, and overlaid them. I put a rough version online as WhatBars.com, and cyclists started asking for more bars. I ran it from 2018 to 2022.
What I did
- Designed itThe tool and how it looks.
- Coded itWith limited web development experience at the start, adding features as people asked for them.
- Marketed itSocial, email, and brand partnerships, on my own.
What happened
- 1.85M total viewsAnd 250K+ unique page views a year, with average sessions over two minutes.
- 11,000+ social followersAnd 2,500+ email subscribers.

I built it, ran it, and grew its audience by myself.
